Auto Populating a Mautic Form with information

Very often we have reasons to automatically populate a form we are sending to our customers.  There could be multiple reasons to do this, one for example is not having them fill out their email address.

There is good documentation about doing this, but it is missing a magic little trick – which without it will have you banging your head against the wall.

So firstly the method for doing it:

  1. Go to Custom Fields and choose the field you want to auto-populate and change the settings to Publicly Updatable.
  2. Next in the url you are sending simply amend the field you want to update. Something like this: https://www.mydomain.com/pagename?email={contactfield=email|true}

Now for the magic little trick: MAKE SURE YOU ARE TESTING IN INCOGNITO BROWSER.  If you are testing on a browser where you are logged into your Mautic, it simply will not work
